From passion project to soap obsession
Shaka was born from one simple belief: what you put on your skin should be as natural as what you put in your body. Our founder, Taylor, has spent over a decade seeking out natural alternatives to the chemical-packed products lining the shelves, from deodorants and sunscreens to soaps and shampoos.
When he discovered cold-process soap, everything changed. One bar turned into a passion. That passion turned into a project. And soon enough, Shaka was born, a soap brand rooted in nature, crafted with care, and built for everyday adventure.
Why We Keep It Cool
Cold-process soap is the traditional way of making soap. No shortcuts, no heat, no harsh processing. It’s slower, each bar takes between 4 to 8 weeks to cure, but that’s what makes it better. All the natural oils, butters, and botanicals stay intact, creating a rich, moisturising lather that nourishes your skin instead of stripping it. Big brands don’t have time for that. But we do. Because we’re not making throwaway soaps. We’re making bars you’ll love down to the last sliver.
All Natural, No Excuses
Early on, we realised that making 100% natural soap wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. Most brands rely on synthetic fragrance oils for strong, punchy scents and artificial colourants for that rainbow-shelf appeal. But we’d made a promise: only essential oils, only natural colourants, always skin-kind.
What followed was months of trial, error, and some very questionable-looking test batches! Scents that disappeared. Colours that morphed. Bars that didn’t quite behave. But we kept going. Tweaking, testing, and trusting the process.
Rest assured, every Shaka bar now smells incredible, looks gorgeous, and feels even better on your skin. It took time, patience and a lot of testing. But we wouldn’t change a thing.

We are nature-chasers and experience-seekers. Whether it’s surfing saltwater waves or carving through mountain snow, we're at home in the elements and we wanted to bring a bit of that wild, feel-good energy into everyday life.
That’s why every Shaka bar is inspired by places, moments, and moods. It’s our way of bottling up good vibes (minus the bottle). Why ‘Shaka’?
The word Shaka comes from Hawaii. It’s a thumb-and-pinky wave that says “relax,” “thanks,” “hello,” and “you’ve got this” all in one simple gesture. It’s a symbol of connection, good vibes, and slowing down to enjoy the moment.
It’s the kind of gesture that brings people together, most often accompanied by a smile. For us, Shaka is more than just a name. It’s a mindset. A daily reminder to live simply, tread lightly, and share a bit of sunshine wherever you go… even if it’s just in the shower.
